mercy’s life, at first, was a dream. born in a picturesque little beach town in italy to two wealthy parents from an even wealthier family, she moved to the united states at young enough of an age to settle in quickly. everything she could’ve ever wanted, she got. but things started to change when she got to middle school; kids were crueler than ever, pulling apart her hair, her weight, her development, her accent…so she coped the only way she knew how, which was not at all. she turned to anything but her friends or family, even going so far as to purchase drugs in the back of the classroom so she could stop her mind from racing so fast she thought it’d explode. or bleed, or whatever. there were so many things wrong with her, and all of them seemed fake, even when they felt all-too-real.the internet was something new to her. it taught her all sorts of wonderful things: how to stop caring, how to get people to like you, how to get people to hate others… through this, on various social media platforms, mercedes managed to amass a cult-like following as the confident, sexy u/B0NG_WTR. it was the only thing that prevented her from becoming a high-school dropout. online, she was loved and desired for someone she could be but ultimately wasn’t. and that was close enough for mercedes.
